Tools

From your words to a running app, with pictures on the way

The authoring tools ask, propose and check, and they show the process from several sides so the people who run it can correct it before anything is built.

Describing the business

Built

The brief

A short text in your own words, written chapter by chapter and version by version. The tools tell the app from it.

Built

The guided interview

Asks what it needs, several questions at once, proposes answers you accept or correct, and asks instead of guessing where the brief is silent.

Built

Checks and questions

A checklist of what is still open, so nothing is forgotten before the app runs.

Built

Ideas

Proposals for what the process could also do, offered, never imposed.

Seeing it before it is built

Built

Story

The process told as a story: who does what, with what, for whom.

Built

Timeline

Everything that happens, in order, in the manner of an Event Storming wall.

Built

Map

The whole app on one sheet: its parts, what they decide and what they share.

Built

Systems

How the app splits into parts, the ways to cut it and what each cut costs.

Built

Lifecycles

Each thing’s life, from created to done, as a diagram, a board and a table.

Built

Screens

The screens each person will see, before they are generated.

Built

Actors and cast

Who takes part, and a cast of named example people every example comes from.

Roadmap

The book of the app

The whole model as one document for the people who were not in the room.

Free and paid

Today the tools run in Visual Studio Code, the free code editor, on Windows, Mac and Linux. They come as two extensions. The free Reventless extension and the command-line tools create, test and run an app on your own machine; the extension is coming to the editor’s marketplace. Reventless Studio adds the visual tools above, the guided interview, the views, the checks and the book of the app, per person; it is not on sale yet. On the assisted path you need neither: the tools run on our side, and you keep the model and the code. See how the free and paid parts build on the open-source framework.

Today in the editor, from 2027 in the browser

The self-service platform planned for 2027 brings the same tools to the browser: describing your business, seeing it, trying it, going live and running it work fully on the web, with nothing to install. Developers can keep working in the editor on the same app; the two meet in one description. See the self-service vision.
